What is the status of the cabins after the storm?

The Hot Springs Log Cabins were unscathed as a result of Hurricane Helene and only lost power to one of our meters (which has now been fixed). We re-opened for business on Friday, October 18th 2024.

What is the status of the town of Hot Springs?

The main downtown area of Hot Springs between the French Broad River and Spring Creek were severely flood damaged by the storm. The majority of restaurants and shops in this area are not currently operational.

However, in the last few weeks the town has had done an extraordinary amount of work getting back on its feet. Power is consistent, water and plumbing are fully back online, and even the downtown internet is up and running. Several businesses are also back online and they would love your support, including:

* Sara Jo's Station (gas and convenience items)
* Hillbilly Market & Deli (groceries, deli, and take-home items)
* Smoky Mountain Diner (restaurant)
* Tobacco Road (beer & wine)
* Dollar General (variety)

Additionally, there are several other areas within a 20m drive of the cabins that are worth visiting:

* Trust General Store & Cafe (restaurant, supplies, fuel)

Should we still visit the Hot Springs Log Cabins?

This picture of the French Broad River in Hot Springs was taken on Saturday, October 12th and shows that the fall foliage season is just getting underway. So, yes, you should still visit the cabins!

The primary appeal of our cabins has always been the natural beauty of the area and the opportunity to disconnect from day to day life. While our town has been hit hard, the beauty of the area and the serenity of the cabins remain. Additionally, the fall time is an amazing time of year to visit our area – please considering doing so now that we are open and ready to host you!

We have fuel, food, and supplies all available in Hot Springs as well as several other areas nearby (Spring Creek, Weaverville, etc...) to support your visit.

The best thing to do to aid in the recovery of our scenic little town is to support the local businesses and residents that maintain the cabins. Please come see us!

How are the roads getting to Hot Springs?

All roads into and out of Hot Springs are in good condition and open to traffic. Google and Apple Maps are not reliable and show several road closures that are not accurate (the road closures shown in Hot Springs are just signs for local traffic only, which you would be).

We have confirmed that Highway 25 from Newport TN is accessible for those coming from the west, as is Highway 25 from Weaverville for those coming from the east.

An SUV style vehicle has always been our recommendation for our mountainous area, especially in the winter, and this recommendation still holds (but is not required) during our recover period as well.

What is your cancellation policy?

We suspended our normal 30-day cancellation policy for the full month of October to accommodate guests whose plans were compromised due to Helene. Starting November 1st we resumed our normal cancellation policy requiring 30 days notice.
